Bassendean Transport Study

Consultation has concluded

This map shows the existing transport network - rail line and stations, bus routes and stops, cycling paths/lanes and road network.

The Town of Bassendean enjoys accessibility to the Midland Rail line and the regional road network and for this reason has been selected to help meet housing infill targets set out in the State Government’s Perth and Peel@3.5million planning framework (published March 2018).

This will mean more people living, working and recreating in the Town and will place more demands on the transport network. In response to this, the Town is undertaking a transport study (referred to as the Bassendean Transport Study) which will set the future direction for transport in Bassendean in the medium to long term.

The study will be holistic, considering walking, cycling, bus, rail and car transport modes, It will look at issues and gaps with the existing transport network and how these may change as the Town’s population grows and key transport projects are introduced such as the Ellenbrook rail line. The outcomes of this study will help to shape the Town’s Local Planning Strategy which is currently being revised.

Phase 1 of the Bassendean Transport Study has just commenced and we welcome your input on the current transport opportunities and challenges facing the Town of Bassendean. The information you share with us now will help to set the transport scene. Phase 2 of the study will build upon this to develop an integrated transport plan which will set out the transport principles, objectives, strategies and actions to be applied over the next 10 to 15 years for walking, cycling, bus, rail and car transport modes. You will have an opportunity to comment on the draft integrated transport plan in Phase 2 of the study. Refer to the Life Cycle tab for more information on the timing of this.
